Human hostiles are part of the progression wall. They control routes, punish bad angle discipline, and become much more dangerous as you move toward the north and Fort IMC.
Hostile Factions by Region
| Faction | Region | Pressure profile | Best habit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Highwaymen | South | Lower-tier hostiles that still punish overexposure | Keep moving and do not overpeek |
| Raiders | Central routes and north | Better rifles and stronger angle checks | Use cover and clear patiently |
| Marauders | North | Heavier combat pressure and harder access fights | Bring a real kit, not a stopgap loadout |
| IMC Soldiers | Fort IMC | Sniper pressure, cover fights, and high lethality | Counter-snipe and respect long sightlines |
What Makes NPC Hostiles Dangerous
- they are often already positioned on the route you want
- they stack with infected pressure instead of replacing it
- they can punish weak armor before you ever see another player
- northern strongholds make bad loadouts obvious immediately
Engagement Habits
| Situation | Better play |
|---|---|
| Open road or field | Break line of sight and avoid long peeks |
| Fort IMC or other exposed sightlines | Bring a sniper or stable AR answer |
| Northern compounds | Slow down, clear methodically, and keep sustain ready |
